Julie Pasturaud est née à Bordeaux en 1978. En 1998 elle poursuit ses études de chant à la prestigieuse Guildhall School of Music and Drama de Londres. Après l’obtention d’un Master en Musique et un perfectionnement en classe d’opéra, elle est choisie pour être membre de l’Opéra Studio où elle étudie avec Rudolf Piernay. En 2003 elle a été finaliste du Maggie Teyte Prize à Covent Garden et lauréate du Richard Tauber Prize à Wigmore Hall . Elle a participé à l’Académie d’Aix-en-Provence avec Christa Ludwig et Edda Moser, ainsi qu’à l’Académie de Villecroze avec Marilyn Horne. Elle a été boursiére du Ministère des Affaires Etrangéres ainsi que lauréate du Wessex Award Glyndebourne Association 2006. Ses engagements incluent Speranza dans L’Orféo de Monteverdi à l’Opéra National de Lyon sous la baguette de Philippe Pickett en avril 2004 ainsi que le rôle titre du Viol de Lucrèce de Britten sous la baguette de Peter Robinson au Barbican Center de Londres en juin 2004. Elle a fait ses débuts à Glyndebourne et au Royal Albert Hall dans le rôle de Dama dans Macbeth de Verdi dirigé par Vladimir Jurovski pour le Festival de Glyndebourne 2007.
En 2008-09, on a pu l’entendre dans Mercedes / CARMEN de Bizet avec le GLYNDEBOURNE TOURING OPERA, Laura / IOLANTA de Tchaikovsky au ROYAL FESTIVAL HALL LONDON dirigé par Vladimir Jurowski, Geneviève / PELLEAS ET MELISANDE de Debussy à SADLER’S WELLS dirigé par Dominic Wheeler, Mastrilla et Brambilla / LA PERICHOLE à L’OPERA DE LILLE sous la direction de Jean-Claude Casadesus ainsi que dans La Virtu / L’INCORONAZIONE DI POPPEA de Monteverdi à l’OPERA DE BORDEAUX dirigé par Rinaldo Alessandrini

Julie Pasturaud was born in Bordeaux, France in 1978. After completing her Art History studies at University, Julie studied law before proceeding to music studies.
In 1998 she began her full time singing studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where she finished her Master in Music Performance and the Opera Course. She is currently studying under the tutelage of Professor Rudolf Piernay. Julie was offered a place at the Aix-en-Provence Music Academy during the summer festival 2003 to study with Christa Ludwig and at the Villecroze Academy to study with Marilyn Horne in september 2003. Julie was finalist of the Richard Tauber Prize at Wigmore Hall in june 2003. Julie was the winner of the Ministére des Affaires Etrangères Prize in 2004, in 2006 she was awarded the Wessex Glyndebourne Association Award. She has also taken part in masterclasses with Edda Moser, Sarah walker, and accompanists such as Graham Johnson, Malcolm Martineau and Martin Katz.
Julie engagements have included Speranza in Orféo by Monteverdi conducted by Philipp Pickett at the Opéra National de Lyon in April 2004 and the title role in the Rape of Lucretia by Britten conducted by Peter Robinson in London in June 2004. She made her Glyndebourne Festival Opera debut and her Royal Albert Hall debut in the role of Dama in Macbeth by Verdi under Vladimir Jurovski in 2007.
Most recently, Julie Pasturaud sang Mercedes / CARMEN by Bizet with the GLYNDEBOURNE TOURING OPERA (September 2008), Laura in Tchaikovsky’s IOLANTA at the ROYAL FESTIVAL HALL LONDON under Vladimir Jurovski (October 2008), Geneviève in PELLÉAS ET MÉLISANDE by Debussy at SADLER’S WELLS under Dominic Wheeler (November 2008), Mastrilla and Brambilla in LA PÉRICHOLE at the LILLE, NANTES, ANGERS and RENNES OPERAS under Jean-Claude Casadesus, La Virtu in Monteverdi’s L’INCORONAZIONE DI POPPEA at the BORDEAUX NATIONAL OPERA under Rinaldo Alessandrini (June 2009).
Julie took part of the world premiere of LA METAMORPHOSE a new opera by Michaël Levinas, created at the Opéra de Lille in March 2011. Amongst her projects : Dama in MACBETH by Verdi conducted by Roberto Rizzi Brignoli at Lille Opera in may 2011, La Bergère et La Chauve-Souris for the new production of L’ENFANT ET LES SORTILEGES by Ravel at Glyndebourne Festival in 2012 conducted by Kazushi Ono, Oenone in HIPPOLYTE ET ARICIE by Rameau at Glyndebourne Festival 2013 conducted by William Christie.
