Andreas Prittwitz was born in Munich, Germany, in 1960. He has collaborated as a recorder soloist with diverse orchestras in Europe, in Spain with the Symphony Orchestra of the Principality of Asturias (OSPA), the Spanish Chamber Orchestra (Víctor Martín), Ars Nova and Atrium Musicae, Zarabanda, the Ocas Chamber Orchestra, etc.
In a parallel way, he taught himself the clarinet and saxophone, looking in-depth into the world of improvisation (jazz, folk, world music).
He has collaborated in the field of jazz in Spain, both in recordings as well as performing live, with musicians such as José Antonio Ramos, Jorge Pardo, Chano Domínguez, the Canal Street Band and the Hot Club in Madrid.
Specialising as an artistic producer and as a session musician, he has worked with the greatest figures on the Spanish musical scene, such as Javier Krahe, Serrát, Víctor Manuel and Ana Belén, Miguel Rios, J. Sabina, L.E. Aute, Manola Tena, Toreros Muertos and others.
He has released 12 CD´s (TERRA Collection) of New Age music and, together with José Antonio Ramos, the disk, “Y”, a finalist in the gala of the 2005 Music Awards, a prize granted by the Spanish Music Academy. With his proyect “Lookingback” he has recorded two CDs, “Looking back over The Renaissance” -also nominated finalist at the Spanish Musik Awards 2009 together with Plácido Domingo and Joseph Carreras- and “Looking back over The Baroque” in 2011. In the same year he also edited “Flauta Dulce Flauta”, a CD dedicated to soloist-repertoire of the recorder. Recently, on 18th of February of 2012, the third “Lookingback-album” has been recorded at the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum Madrid about Chopin’s piano preludes op.28 with Daniel del Pino. Recently, herecorded “Beau soir” with Isabel Álvarez (Soprano) and Iñaki Salvador ( piano).
He also has a history of intense educational labour, offering improvisation classes in conservatories and co-ordinating the “Initiation into Improvisation Course” in Gijón for the last 15 years.
As an actor, he has taken part in several films, such as “La Ardilla Roja” by Julio Medem or as co-star in “El Vivo Retrato” by Mario Menéndez among others. For the last ten years he has been doing locutions in German, doubling for films as well as for advertisements and documentaries. |
